Are there study groups or tutorials with fellow students?2019-07-02T10:58:29+10:00

It is important our students build a network with one another, and gain the classroom experience online. Throughout our online webinar series, students will be encouraged to interact, and get involved within certain topics in the student forums. This may include course material, or even external factors effecting the fitness industry.

Yes, you will learn how to analyse your Personal Training clients’ diets and how to suggest changes and make recommendations.

Learning as part of a group really enhances a students understanding, and retention of knowledge. Our course structure maximises this experience through the live webinars and the student discussion forums online. So you never feel alone through your course.

Yes, CECs are offered for a number of units within the Nutrition Coach course.
A total of 24 CECs can be obtained.

Can I get credit for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?2019-07-02T11:06:09+10:00

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available at FIAFitnation. When you enrol to study with FIAFitnation, please provide evidence of your previous qualifications, study and/or professional experience so that we can assess whether you have credit towards your fitness course. Can I prescribe supplements?2020-03-06T15:07:03+11:00

No. To prescribe nutritional supplements, you need to hold a Bachelor’s degree, for example, the Bachelor of Health Science (Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine) at FIAFitnation’s sister college, Endeavour College of Natural Health.

Yes, the course includes units on planning, evaluating and modifying meal plans for your personal training clients. You will have the opportunity to practice writing meal plans for yourself, your family and friends as part of your assessment.

Do I get a certificate at the end of my course?2019-07-02T11:01:56+10:00

Students will receive a Certificate or Statement of Attainment on completion of their chosen program, to FIAFitnation’s required standards.

Do I need to buy a textbook for the course?2020-03-06T15:01:29+11:00

Yes, the prescribed textbook is Understanding Nutrition, 4th Edition.
This book is available in hardcopy or as an e-book. There is also a recommended reading list outlining reference books, textbooks, blogs and websites that may be useful for your studies.

All materials needed to complete our courses are available online. You can also access extra reference materials in our libraries on campus, which can potentially save you hundreds.

Do I need to do a written exam?2020-03-06T15:03:37+11:00

There are no formal written exams for this course. Assessments are all online and take the form of short answer responses, blogs, social media posts, case studies or videos demonstrating your understanding of the learning material.

Do I need to wear a surgical mask?2020-03-17T05:49:05+11:00

Wearing surgical masks when out in the community are only helpful in preventing people who have coronavirus disease from spreading it to others.

If you are not sick, you do not need to wear a surgical mask as there is little evidence supporting the widespread use of surgical masks in healthy people to prevent transmission in public.

Yes. You can either pay for your course in full up-front (and there are advantages in doing so!) or opt for one of our flexible and affordable payment plans.

You can add a short course in nutrition to your qualifications. If you’re looking for more options, our sister college, Endeavour College of Natural Health, offers a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine).

The learning material for our fitness courses are delivered across a variety of mediums, including reading material, video presentations of our academic lectures, live webinars, as well as review questionnaires to make sure our students are on track.

How do I apply for Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)?2020-03-06T15:03:59+11:00

RPL recognises any of your prior knowledge and experience and measures it against the Unit of Competency or Unit of Study that you are enrolled in. If successful in your application, you may not need to complete all of a training program as you already possess some of the competencies within the Nutrition Coach course. To apply for RPL, email educational.pathways@endeavour.edu.au with details of the Unit requested.

We have an active private Facebook page where students interact with each other, ask questions and find out how graduates are using their qualifications in the field. Job opportunities and latest research findings are also posted here and students can message their support team and tutors as well.

Evidence suggests that the virus is spread from person to person. This most likely happens through:

  • Close contact with an infectious person
  • Contact with droplets from an infected person’s cough or sneeze
  • Touching objects or surfaces (like doorknobs or tables) that have cough or sneeze droplets from an infected person, and then touching your mouth or face.

With online learning, you’re the boss. You get your course content, submit your assessments and receive your grades through our online learning platform. So you have the flexibility to study wherever you are; on a train, in a café, at home, the choice is yours. You can fit in study around your life – in between clients, before work or when the kids are asleep. Think of the platform as your online campus, it has everything you need, but is more convenient.

How does the Nutrition Coach course complement my Personal Training business?2020-03-06T14:57:03+11:00

As a Personal Trainer, you’ll know you can’t work off a bad diet – and that’s why being able to talk about nutrition with clients is so important. With this course, you can offer much more than the average PT and stand out from the crowd. In addition to prescribing client exercise programs, you can diversify and offer premium services; one-on-one nutrition consultations, group nutrition workshops, pantry reboots, online coaching and meal planning sessions. You may be someone who watches an online presentation once and gets it, while others may need to refer to further notes and videos to fully understand the topic. This means you may finish faster or slower than the allocated course time.

How long does COVID-19 last on surfaces?2020-03-17T05:49:52+11:00

It is not certain how long the virus that causes COV-19 survives on surfaces, but studies suggest coronaviruses may persist on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days. If you think a surface may be infected, clean it with a common household disinfectant to kill the virus. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water and avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose.

You have a timeframe of up to 12 months to complete the course, however you may finish sooner, some students finish within 8 months.

This depends on what you choose to study and how! We have a variety of courses and a range of flexible study options – online, on-campus, part or full-time.

You will have support 24/7. Online you can access our ‘Tutor Frequently Asked Questions’ area. If you have a question about course content, your exams or the learning platform you can email your online tutors during business hours, from Monday to Friday. On campus you can request an appointment to meet your tutor face-to–face, or speak with our Support Services Team via phone or in person.

How often do I need to login as I progress through the course?2019-07-02T10:55:21+10:00

Continual support and contact with your online trainer is an essential part of studying online. Our online trainers run frequent live webinars to keep in contact with our students, generally on a weekly basis. It is suggested that our students log into our online system to view our webinars, and follow their study plans on a weekly basis.

I am feeling anxious about coronavirus – what should I do?2020-03-17T05:52:25+11:00

It is normal to experience some worry or concern about this issue, however if it begins to affect your mental health or physical wellbeing it is recommended you seek support from a health professional.

FIAFitnation offers a free and confidential counselling and support service for students. The College Student Assistance Program (SAP) is available 24/7 through Access EAP. Call 1800 336 207 or accesseap.com.au. The SAP counsellors are fully trained and will be able the support that you need at this time.

Due to course competencies, the Certificate III & Certificate IV in Fitness courses do have a practical assessment weekend on campus to put the theory into practice.

Yes. FIAFitnation is an accredited Registered Training Organisation (RTO) recognised by the Australian Skills Quality Authority.

Is the course accredited by ASQA?2020-03-06T15:05:57+11:00

The course is not accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), however it is well recognised in the industry by the professional body, Fitness Australia. The course is designed to equip you with a very specific knowledge and skillset that no other course can provide. This also means the course includes all the content you’re interested in and not the boring stuff.

Is there someone available to help me if I’m struggling with part of the course or an assessment item?2019-07-02T10:55:50+10:00

The online trainers’ role is to assist students with queries regarding learning materials, assessment tasks, or the course structure, as well as keep students on track with their study plan. Students will be contacted by the online trainer regularly, and have the option to contact their online trainer via email, or phone at any stage of the course.

All assessments are now completed online, whenever it suits the student within the course timeframe. Assessments range from written answers, multiple choice, true or false, and case study scenarios. Students will be given feedback on their assessments to again ensure their skill level is high before entering the fitness industry.

Symptoms can range from mild illness to pneumonia. People with coronavirus may experience fever, flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue, and shortness of breath. Some people will recover easily, and others may get very sick very quickly.

You can use the title Certified Fitness Nutritional Coach™ when promoting your new expanded service offering.

If you become unwell and think you may have symptoms of coronavirus, seek medical attention. Book an appointment ahead of time and be sure to tell your doctor about your symptoms, travel history and any recent close contact with someone who has coronavirus. It is advisable to wear a surgical mask to protect others.

After completing your course, we recommend that you register with Fitness Australia or Physical Activity Australia. As different countries have differing requirements when it comes to working in the fitness industry, we encourage you to speak with potential overseas employers or contact Fitness Australia to understand what you will need to work in other countries.

LMS stands for Learning Management System, and this is basically the online web page that holds all our learning resources for our students. FIAFitnation uses the latest Moodle LMS, and we have had a team of technologists design our interface to make online study as easy as possible for you.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause illnesses that can range from the common cold to more severe diseases. The new strain of coronavirus was first reported in December 2019 and has been named Coronavirus (COVID-19), ‘novel coronavirus’ and ‘2019-nCov’.

Other coronaviruses include Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

The health and wellbeing of our students and staff are a priority. Our measures are consistent with Federal and State Health Departments’ advice and we are consistently reviewing these measures. We are promoting healthy personal hygiene habits across our campuses which includes the availability of hand sanitiser around campuses as well as more stringent classroom/clinics/on campus facility sterilisation and cleaning protocols.

What is the difference between this course and a Bachelor in Nutrition?2020-03-06T15:07:51+11:00

The program is at a level which allows you to work autonomously, and in collaboration with other allied health professionals. This course is designed to fast track your career in nutrition and wellness. After completing this course, you can undertake more advanced qualifications at an undergraduate (Bachelor) level. In degree programs in nutrition or dietetics, students would usually study advanced topics such human physiology, biochemistry, genetics, health conditions and diseases related to poor nutrition and the impact on health. A Bachelor degree allows graduates to prescribe supplements, request pathology tests, identify contraindications associated with drug-nutrient interactions and to register as a Nutritionist.

When you enrol in the Nutrition Coach course, you’ll be joining a whole community of staff and students who can offer support when you need it. You’re not alone – you will be allocated a personal Online Tutor who is available via phone, email or for a face to face appointment. Your Tutor will guide you through your studies and answer any questions you have. The Student Support Team will get you started in the course and will also be there to assist throughout the entire time you’re studying with us. When you graduate, the support keeps going – we offer assistance with job placement, networking and online coaching opportunities and careers advice.

What will happen if I have to become a full-time carer for my children if they are unable to attend school?2020-03-17T05:51:54+11:00

We will review this on a case by case basis. In some cases subjects may be able to be taken online or a webinar may be set up in order for you to continue your studies. We can support you with attendance requirements or schedule in make up work shops, depending on the situation.

This unique course combines content from a range of disciplines; nutrition, psychology, coaching, health, business and communications. The course is jam packed with interactive learning materials focusing on meal planning, food labelling, digital and social media, behaviour change, food marketing, cooking skills with celebrity chefs, analysing food diaries, macro and micronutrients, latest nutrition research, environmental impact of food choices, organic foods, portion sizes, marketing your business online and weight management research. Staying on top of current food and nutrition trends is important – you need to be one step ahead of your clients! The course will also teach you how to critically analyse trends and diets, such as keto, paleo, very low energy diets, gluten free, vegetarian, paleo diets and intermittent fasting.

It’s important to practise good hygiene to prevent the spread and contraction of infections. This includes:

  • Washing your hands often with soap and water
  • Using a tissue and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze
  • Avoiding close contact with others, such as touching

If you have a confirmed case, you need to isolate yourself to prevent it spreading to other people.

Those at highest risk are those who have recently been in mainland China and Iran, or have been in been in close contact with someone who is a confirmed case of coronavirus.

The elderly and people with underlying medical conditions such as heart or lung disease may be at risk of a more severe disease if infected.

Me Squared features a habit-based Nutrition Coaching app designed to connect Nutrition Coaches to clients virtually and allows the flexibility to keep track of clients regularly to get results.
Will I require any other resources (eg fitness equipment) to fully participate in the course other than technology required to access the course?2019-07-02T10:58:11+10:00

Students will be required to access some fitness equipment during the practical stages of this course. Students will liaise with a local health club facility to use their equipment for the video filming (for practical course elements), or purchase this equipment as it will be essential when they start personal training.
