Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) are core skills required within Vocational Education and Training. The term LLN refers to five core skills; learning, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy. These five core skills have been identified by the Australian Core Skills Framework (ASCF) as the essential skills for individuals to hold to participate effectively in society including the workplace and education sector.

As stated it is essential that VET students have the LLN skills sufficient to successfully participate in training and assessment in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. It is also essential that students have sufficient LLN skills see at the completion of their training and assessment to work successfully in the chosen vocation. Please note: Domestic applicants aged under 18 years at the time of application must turn 18 in their first enrolled trimester of study or within 6 months of acceptance into the course. Prospective students under the age of 18 must have their enrolment paper work witnessed by a parent or guardian. Please refer to our Admissions Policy for further details regarding entry requirements.

SIS30315 - Certificate III in Fitness

For entry into our Certificate III courses, you need to:

  • Have completed Australian Year 10 or equivalent and be able to provide evidence of such; OR
  • Achieve competency in Exit Level 2 score and working at Level 3 within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessment in Literacy and Numeracy; AND
  • Show capability to be successful in the course.

SIS40215 - Certificate IV in Fitness

For entry into our Certificate IV courses, you need to:

  • Have completed Australian Year 11 or equivalent and be able to provide evidence of such; OR
  • Achieve competency in Exit Level 3 score and working at Level 4 within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in Reading and Numeracy; AND
  • Show capability to be successful in the course; AND
  • Successful completion of the SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness.

SIS50215 - Diploma of Fitness

Fitness industry experience is recommended before starting this course.

You will need a current Certificate IV in Fitness OR the following units of competency.

Plan and deliver exercise programs to support desired body composition outcomes SISFFIT420A

Establish legal and risk management requirements of small business BSBSMB401

For entry into this program you need to:

  • Meet any specified course entry requirements; AND
  • Provide a copy of a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (i.e. a Year 12 qualification); OR
  • Achieve competency in Exit Level 3 score and working at Level 4 within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in Reading and Numeracy; AND,
  • Show capability to be successful in the course.
  • Hold a current Certificate IV in Fitness or have attained the following unit of competency and hold a current First Aid certificate (HLTAID003 Provide First Aid), AND
  • Have a minimum 12 months of registered industry experience 

10454NAT - Diploma of Nutrition and Dietetics for Personal Trainers

You will need a current Certificate IV in Fitness. You will also need a desire to help your clients achieve the best possible fitness results through nutritional and dietary advice that complements their training programs.

For entry into this program you need to:

  • Meet any specified course entry requirements; AND
  • Provide a copy of a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (i.e. a Year 12 qualification); OR
  • Achieve competency in Exit Level 3 score and working at Level 4 within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in Reading and Numeracy; AND,
  • Show capability to be successful in the course.
  • Hold a current Certificate IV in Fitness and hold a current First Aid certificate (HLTAID003 Provide First Aid)

SIS50612 - Diploma of Sports Development**

For entry into this program you need to:

  • Meet any specified course entry requirements; AND
  • Provide a copy of a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (i.e. a Year 12 qualification); OR
  • Achieve competency in Exit Level 3 score and working at Level 4 within the Australian Core Skills Framework assessments in Reading and Numeracy; AND,
  • Show capability to be successful in the course.
